‘Big data’ has become a catchphrase. But in practical terms, how can small nonprofit organizations harness data and use it effectively? The Ad Council leads approximately 50 public service communications campaigns, all of which include extensive digital and social media components. That means we are sitting on a lot of data!

This session will describe our sometimes painful, but often rewarding process over the past year to do a better job of collecting, analyzing and acting on our data, for use in both strategic planning and evaluation.  In this set of multimedia presentations, we will focus on practical recommendations that attendees can apply to their own organizations.This session is for nonprofit professionals that are interested in leveraging data to inform their digital and social communications activities.

Ben Poltarak manages the measurement practice across the Ad Council’s digital and social media platforms. Prior to joining the Advertising Council, Ben spent 3 years at NM Incite, a Nielsen and McKinsey joint venture, as an account manager for the firms self-service social listening dashboard. He is received his Bachelors of Science from Syracuse University.
