Phil Aroneanu is an organizer and political strategist advocating for solutions to the climate crisis. He has over a decade of experience working at the local, state, national and international levels on climate policy and politics. He co-founded the national Step It Up campaign in early 2007, and in 2009, went on to become a co-founder of 350.org, which organized what CNN dubbed "The most widespread day of political action in history," with over 5200 public events in 181 countries. As US Campaign Director, Phil helped plan and implement the ongoing campaign against the Keystone XL Tar Sands pipeline, which has mobilized tens of thousands of people throughout the US and Canada, as well as the Go Fossil Free fossil fuel divestment campaign, which is currently active on over 400 College and University campuses around the country. Phil is also a writer and public speaker, and has been published in The Guardian, Grist, Huffington Post, The Tyee and others. In his free time, he plays banjo and guitar with the DC-based Second String Band, and enjoys spending time running, biking and hiking.
